How do RFID Tags work?

RFID chips are used for tagging items or animals, so that users can identify and track them. The RFID tag stores a serial number which allows readers to find their location using radio waves.

There are two types of tags available - active and passive. Active tags have their own power source which allows them to be read from over 100 meters away. These are ideal for locating assets in huge warehouses. Whereas passive tags use electromagnetic energy from the reader to power them. Their range is just 25 meters which makes them better suited to smaller stores.
